Welcome to my very first website!!! It's a new age with new technology. Some things inevitably change, but for me the most important thing about teaching and learning hasn't changed and probably never will. The relationship between a teacher and a student is the most critical element for learning to occur. Learning happens everywhere if your eyes and ears are open. After twenty years of teaching, I know this is true. In my classroom, we learn how to ask questions as a form of learning- in teacher speak- it's called the process of inquiry based on the Socratic Method.
At the middle school level, students are striving for independence and simultaneously, they are striving to belong to their peer group. I've made a career out of trying to blend many diverse elements to assist students in their social, emotional and academic development. Please feel free to look at the information on my website and contact me if you wish...
For those parents who I've already had in school, it is my pleasure to be able to keep learning with your kids!!! It's a never ending cycle.....
LEARNING TO LEARN:
AS A LEARNER, DO YOU:
Set short and long term goals?
Believe you can accomplish them?
Visualize a positive future?
Have a passion?
Search out successful strategies or resources?
Have a positive attitude towards life?
Get along with other people?
Function independently?
Use your time wisely to achieve your goals?
Allow for change by being flexible in your thinking and actions?
Know how to learn and how you learn?
Know how to realistically evaluate yourself and your work?
TEACHING TO LEARN:
AS A TEACHER,
DO I PROVIDE OPPORTUNITES IN MY CLASSROOM FOR MY STUDENTS TO:
Set short and long term goals?
Believe you can accomplish them?
Visualize a positive future?
Search out successful strategies or resources?
Have a positive attitude towards life?
Get along with other people?
Function independently?
Use your time wisely to achieve your goals?
Allow for change by being flexible in your thinking and actions?
Know how to learn and how you learn?
Know how to realistically evaluate yourself and your work?
