Art Class
With the beginning of the 3rd trimester, Innovation Academy has finished up their work with Mr. Groening in Tech. Ed.  We'd like to thank him for the great activities he's offered our team!  We're excited to be starting our work in Art class with Ms. Sproch.

Spelling Bee Winner
Gavin Holland is the winner of our THMS spelling bee! He received an Amazon gift card courtesy of Mrs. Buckheit and THMS, an online gift certificate for Encyclopedia Britanica from the Scripps National Spelling Bee, and an online certificate for a free semester of a foreign langauge course of his choice (Latin, German, etc....) from the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Geo Bee Winner
Congratulations to 8th grade innovator Leander Andrews, this years Geography Bee winner! He will be competing in the Statewide Competition to be held at the University of Maine at Farmington campus on March 30. Good Luck Leander!

New Sign
New Sign.jpgWith Mr. Groening's help in Tech Ed. class, Doyle Bailey cut out and welded together a "Mythbusters" inspired sign for our Academy.  We'll hang this up soon in our hallway.

THMS students are taking part in the Teens for Jeans program.  Please bring in your gently used or outgrown jeans for those in need.  Please help us make a difference in the lives of others.

Homework Club
Beginning Tuesday, February 7, Innovation Academy will offer academic support sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2:05 pm until 3:15 pm. The purpose of these sessions is to help our students improve achievement and help them meet standards, whether it be by receiving extra help from a teacher or catching up on overdue assignments. This opportunity is available to any Innovation student who simply wants a quiet place to work, however, students who are not currently meeting standards may be required to attend the “Homework Club”. You will receive notice one day in advance if your son or daughter must attend.

Please contact any of us if you have questions or concerns.

Our Academy Mission:

In the Academy of Innovation students and teachers will collaborate to ensure all students meet standards through the process of questioning and creative problem solving, as well as exploring the historical significance of others who have questioned.
  • Students will have a voice and choice in how they discover and demonstrate what they know and can do.
  • Teachers will present students with the framework of required learning standards.
  • Students will examine those individuals in history whose creative and innovative thinking changed our world.
  • Students will identify current challenges and offer original solutions by:
        -Gathering, analyzing, and evaluating information.
        -Applying knowledge.
        -Making decisions.
        -Creating various products and models.

Mr. LaValle has an account with ALL of the hundreds of photos of last year's grade 8 students at the Kieve Leadership School.   Families are able to view photos, select those they would like copies of and order from Shutterfly in a variety of ways for a very reasonable cost.  Check it out by going to http://thmskievetrip.shutterfly.com/       The password is: thmslions
