Weekly Schedule for January 22, 2012:

Great News!  Students can purchase an extension on their ALEKS contracts for the summer.  It is only $22.50 to continue this.  This would give the students the rest of the summer to perfect their basic fact proficiency.  Some have not completed their QuickTables plus once these are done they can play the games to keep up their speed.  Topics that the student has not mastered could then be worked on over the summer too.  This would place them at a much better starting place for the fall.

This week all students will be doing mini-tests to complete targets for the year.  Some students will be retesting on old targets also.

Students should be working on both their ALEKS topics and their QuickTables.  Students who have not completed the Addition QuickTables will be receiving academic detentions since this should have been completed during the first month of school.   Some students have not been doing their 8-10 topics a week nor working on their basic facts with the QuickTables.  All of these assignments are part of their mathematics grade. Students will be expected to complete 200 topics by the end of the year as their new contract goal.  I am in hopes that a number of students will exceed this.

*** Nightly homework assignments will be in the student's planners.  Each mathematics section (Block 6 and 7 ) are often on different assignments because of our rotating schedule so they are not listed here.

Each day students are encouraged to do their QuickTables in ALEKS.  As you observed at your child's Student-Led Conference they have set their own goals for ALEKS.  After 15 minutes the student's time is finished on QuickTables.  Students should then work on the topics on their Pie.  Each student can choose any of the highlighted topics to work on.  Students should master at least 10 topics a week.

Winners for Top ALEKS Topics for this past week are :  Alex, Rudi, Evan Congratulations!
