BAND PROGRAM-GENERAL INFORMATION
1. Necessary Materials: a fully functional band instrument (no string family instruments), a band book, necessary accessories for your child's instrument (reeds, cork grease, swabs, valve & slide oil, slide grease, cleaning cloths, drums sticks, practice pads, etc.). School owned instruments are available to THMS Students, as needed, and when available. Communicate directly with Mr. Smith if there is a need to borrow a school owned instrument.
2. Attendance at all band rehearsals, band lessons, and concerts is mandatory. Exceptions only for emergencies, illness, and absence from school.
3. Minimum practice requirements: I recommend a minimum of five days per week for thirty minutes per day. I also recommend your child practice the same time each day! Find a time block that works for your child and stick to it! Your child will never have nothing to practice!
4. NKMusic/Rockport (800-540-8721) and Bangor Music Center/Bangor (800-540-8721-X6): recommended for books, instruments, supplies, accessories, & repair of band instruments!
GRADE 6 BAND
Rehearsal Schedule: A-Day 9:35-10:35, C-Day 12:00-1:00, F-Day 7:45-8:35, G-Day 8:35-9:35.
Band Book: Standard of Excellence-Book 1-Instrument Specific.

BAND 7&8
Rehearsal Schedule: B-Day 12:00-1:00, E-Day 7:45-8:35, G-Day 9:35-10:30.
Band Book: Standard of Excellence-Book 2-Instrument Specific.

JAZZ BAND 7&8
Rehearsal Schedule: A-Day 11:00-12:00
Jazz Band Book: Jazz Standard of Excellence-Book 1. (Provided by THMS)
Current Assignment: Jazz Band begins on Tuesday, September 20, Block 4, 11:00-12:00!! If interested talk to Mr. Smith.
THMS REMAINING 2012 BAND CONCERTS:
- Spring Concert (Grade 6: Band/Chorus): Monday, May 14 @ 12:30PM/THMS Cafeteria. Concert is during school for Grade 6 students, staff, and parents who can attend.
- Spring Concert (Grades 7/8: Band/Jazz Band/Chorus): Thursday, May 17 @ 7:00PM. This concert has been CANCELLED due to extreme scheduling conflicts with MEA Testing, NWEA Testing, and the National Science Olympiad in Orlando, Florida.
- Memorial Day Parade: Monday, May 28 (9:00AM) in Searsmont Village. (Band 6/7/8 Only) Student arrival @ 8:15AM/Searsmont Fire Station.
- Possible “All-School Assembly” in the THMS Gym around June 1st (Date TBA)?
2012 KVMEA MUSIC FESTIVAL

Festival Dates: Friday & Saturday, February 3 & 4, 2012 at Waterville HS.
2012 KV Concert Schedule:
Saturday, Feb. 4 @ 2:00PM-Junior & Senior Band Concert.
Saturday, Feb. 4 @ 4:00PM-Junior & Senior Chorus Concert.
2012 Junior Band Participants: Alyson Peabody-Bassoon, Caleb Wallace-Clarinet, & Zeke Ventura-Percussion.
